Venice Takeaway
International Exchange #2

How can architects and designers learn from the landscape? What is the British Exploratory Land Archive (BELA) and what might its findings tell us about the UK?

Inspired by the Centre for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) near Los Angeles and the American West, Venice Takeaway explorers Smout Allen and Geoff Manaugh outline proposals for mapping the British Isles with fresh eyes in order to uncover new potential.

Reflecting on CLUI - which since 1994 has been recording and developing an understanding of what is called a 'human interaction with the earth's surface' - this event looks at how a new British equivalent body (BELA) will create a resource, repository and online archive for the active expeditionary cataloguing of sites in the UK.
