The brick façade of this new building challenges the academic orthodoxy of glass elevations and sun screening. It also expresses the staircases.
 
But the design is as concerned with energy conservation as it is with architectural history and the result is a green building that is engagingly idiosyncratic, and reminiscent of a small palazzo.
