The approach to the conversion of two linear stone barns is clear and effective and raises the ubiquitous ‘barn conversion’ to a new level.
 
Internally new partitions, floors and fittings are treated almost as furniture. Ingeniously the plywood skin is spaced from the stone walls, providing thermal insulation, lighting, and recesses concealing storage. The building is at once daring and understated.
