Stowe House Restoration Phase 2

Stowe House Restoration Phase 2

Stowe House Restoration Project

This project is the second phase of a six phase comprehensive repair of the school building and comprises the complete external repair of the building and conservation of the fabric on the south front, east and west flank walls, the complex historic roof and the Marble Saloon - an elliptical space which sits under a fine parabolic domed roof and ceiling. The work involved the renewal of stonework, joinery repairs to windows and doors, carpentry repairs to the heavy oak roof structure, leadwork to the roof and a new copper covering to the dome. Perhaps the most significant accomplishment is that all this was achieved while the building was fully occupied by the school.
