The 1970s building was refurbished from top to bottom with a new entirely internal atrium, upper stories and rear courtyard. The most successful move in the design was to internalize what had previously been fairly dark and odd courtyard at the centre of the building to give a new atrium reception area with views to all parts of the building. The roof was lifted to become a huge north sloping structure with ETFE pillows instead of glazing. Some of the top floors now have double height spaces and the effect is dramatic.

The ventilation and cooling comes up through 400mm floor voids and the lighting is natural as far as possible. Displacement air conditioning is very rarely if ever seen in speculative office buildings.
