The Client required this building to be a flagship for sustainability and quality design within the Northern Ireland education sector, resulting in a very considered response by the Architects and design team. The site is situated in a conservation area amongst several listed buildings close the city centre.

The architects have designed a very pleasing contemporary building that sits sensitively in its location, connecting well to the surrounding landscape.

The use of natural materials such as cedar timber cladding and clay bricks have been well detailed and the expressive vertical timber clad flitch plate elements supporting the cedar brie soleil pays due reference to the vertical detailing of an adjacent building. The building has achieved a BREEAM rating of Very Good.
