Omagh had turned its back on its waterways and the client wished to regenerate the areas adjacent to the Strule River using the Arts Centre as the catalyst. The client also wanted to make the centre an inclusive venue for all and the focus of community activities across all denominations; the building appears to be very successful in delivering this aim.

Environmental considerations include a solar thermal water heating system; a flat plate photo voltaic array; a rainwater recovery system, all assist the building in terms of its environmental credentials.

This is a testament to the Client’s patience and drive, the architects’ commitment to the project and the willingness of the local population to create a building for the community.
