Akerman - front exterior

This health centre is a highly rational and efficiently organised building with the consultation rooms arranged along its front elevation and clearly expressed. This bold approach gives the building a muscularity and civic stature.

Careful selection and treatment of the exterior palette of materials - robust and enduring brick and corten steel – not only give the building an ability to deal with the everyday ebb and flow, they also give an aged, pre-existing, timeless.

Internally spaces are efficient and functional. A relatively shallow plan ensures good access to light, air and views to the surroundings. A shallow plan allows for the use of natural lighting and ventilation, leading to a low-energy building. Exposed concrete soffits are employed to minimise temperature variations, while bringing a tough of quality to the interior space.
