The Japanese architect’s buildings include a store for the luxury goods retailer Tod’s in Tokyo, the Sendai Médiathèque in Miyagi and a temporary summer pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery in London.

The Swiss architects’ projects include the National Stadium Beijing, the Allianz Arena Munich, Laban Dance Centre and Tate Modern both in London.

The English architect’s work includes the Downland Gridshell, West Sussex, the Centre for Mathematics, University of Cambridge and the Ready Mix Concrete HQ in Chertsey.

The Portuguese architect’s work includes the Iberê Camargo Foundation in Brazil, the Museu de Serralves in Porto and a temporary summer pavilion at the Serpentine Gallery in London with Souto de Moura.

The 2010 Royal Gold Medal was presented to the 92 year old Chinese-American architect in recognition of his 50 years in architecture by RIBA President Ruth Reed. As is customary, he presented the RIBA with a drawing: an early sketch for his Louvre scheme in Paris.
