Deputy Director, Library

Location: Central London
Salary: £up to - £50,000 pa pro-rata
Hours: Part-time, 28 hrs per week

The largest and most comprehensive resource in Britain for research and information on all aspects of architecture, the RIBA British Architectural Library (BAL) brings together collections of close to four million items. The RIBA Library and Information Centre acts as a centre for enquiries and has responsibility for the provision of the RIBA switchboard. 

Reporting to the Director of the BAL, you will share responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Library, management of the budget and staff development. The post holder is responsible for managing and developing a team of professional and support staff who provide information services (Information Centre and Reading Room) and technical services (acquisitions/cataloguing/indexing) to members and the public. 

With strong previous experience of working at a senior level, managing teams and customer service, you will utilize your development skills to train and motivate staff to ensure the successful development and implementation of the Library's strategic plan. Creativity and strategic thinking along with a practical approach to work are essential along with experience of devising and managing budgets. Knowledge of, or interest in, architecture, its history and practice, is highly desirable.
