The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and its members. With a passion to promote a wider public appetite and interest in architecture through its website, exhibitions, talks and four million-strong collections, the RIBA has led the profession since its foundation in 1834, and continues to lead as architects face the challenges of the 21st century.
We are now looking for an experienced Administrator to join the team in the Practice department which encourages and supports best practice by architects and maintains standards in the profession. This is a pivotal role where you will support professional and expert member groups, web based professional communities and client forums, carry out a full range of administrative duties and general PA support to ensure the smooth running of this important department.
As the first point of contact, you will deal with a range of enquiries from the public, colleagues and RIBA members, organise and manage internal and external communications, take notes for department meetings, maintain accurate filing systems and liaise with the finance department regarding invoices and processing payment/expenses claims. Providing PA support to the Director of Practice will see you assisting with drafting correspondence/reports, diary management and arranging travel.
There will also be occasions where you will assist with practice and profession based project work and event management, which includes everything from programme development and speaker engagement to delegate reception and ticketing.
This is a real hands-on role that requires someone with a background in administration, office management or as a PA, preferably within a large membership or customer focused organisation though not essentially. With a good standard of education, you will have first class MS office skills that enable you to produce high quality documentation and reports, excellent attention to detail and be well versed in supporting a variety of people.
