Friends Development Manager

Be part of the vision; be part of the RIBA.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and our members. With a passion to promote a wider public appetite and interest in architecture through its website, exhibitions, talks and collections, the RIBA has led the profession since its foundation in 1834, and continues to lead as architects face the challenges of the 21st century.

Our vision is that by 2017, the RIBA will be recognised internationally as the world's leading authority on architecture and the built environment. 2014 sees the launch of an additional gallery at our London Headquarters – the purpose built Art Deco masterpiece – that is our home. The new gallery will further extend our ability to showcase our world class collections and the subject of architecture for the enjoyment of the public as well as our members.

A 'Friends of' scheme is part of our strategic aim to connect with a public audience. The scheme will launch in tandem with the new Gallery opening in 2014 with a view to roll out at other RIBA hubs across the country.

We are looking for someone with substantial experience of supporter fundraising and marketing to lead the creation and development of a 'Friends of' scheme. You will have previous experience of such a scheme and be aware of the range of benefits expected by this type of group along with an understanding of what is required to keep retention levels high. Positive in attitude and highly organised, you will have excellent ability to multi-task while remaining focused on the strategic direction required.

This is a superb opportunity for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual looking for a challenge within a stimulating and exciting environment. A demonstrated interest in architecture is desirable.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please send a covering letter and CV along with a completed Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form and Applicants Statement to: Lottie Cole, Director of Development & Fundraising, RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AD.  Alternatively, you can email your application to recruitment@riba.org|.
