The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and its members. With a passion to promote a wider public appetite and interest in architecture through its website, exhibitions, talks and four-million-strong collections, the RIBA has led the profession since its foundation in 1834, and continues to lead as architects face the challenges of the 21st century.

Membership of the RIBA is recognised the world over as a symbol of professional excellence with individuals and practices striving to achieve this 'gold standard'. We are now seeking a confident, results-driven Head of Membership, to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction throughout our global membership base, which currently stands at around 40,500.

You will have overall responsibility for annual subscription renewals and retention methods, leading the Membership department in duties including member correspondence such as payment, resignations, new elections and amendments to personal and practice records. Key to the role are validating practices prior to registration, checking eligibility of potential and existing members and ensuring that membership policies are implemented in accordance with Charter, byelaws and regulations.

Developing and implementing effective strategies to enhance retention of our members both in the UK and overseas, you will work closely with both the Membership Admissions Commitee as well as the Director of Membership to whom you will regularly provide performance reports.

Qualified to degree level or with relevant professional experience, you must have experience with leading and developing a team of people in a sales/service delivery environment, working towards financial targets. With knowledge of budget setting, performance reporting and forecasting, you will also need to have worked with CRM systems. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a positive, proactive approach to meeting targets are essential qualities. If you have a background with membership organisations and an understanding of or passion for architecture, so much the better.
