Modern Architecture and Town Planning

The Modern Architecture and Town Planning Trust exists to support the study of contemporary and recent architecture; this includes the decoration and furnishing of buildings, and the arrangement and landscaping of land adjacent to buildings in any part of the world.
 
Please note, the Modern Architecture and Town Planning Trust awards are for closely defined pieces of architectural research and are not available to pay course fees and subsistence costs to students whilst enrolled on PhD/MPhil programmes. 
 
The following awards are available in 2008:
 
The Modern Architecture and Town Planning Trust:
- 3 awards not exceeding £5,000 each
 
The Historical Research Trust:
- 1 award not exceeding £5,000

The Research Grants Sub-committee awarded, under the Modern Architecture and Town Planning Trust 2007:
 
Dr Felipe Hernandez  £5,000.00 for a research project entitled, 'Beyond Modernist Masters'.
 
Prof Neil Jackson £3,895.00 for researching modernity and tradition in post-war Japanese architecture.
 
Richard Brook £5,000.00 for a selective examination of the modern and modernist architecture of Greater Manchester.
