Prizes, scholarships and bursaries

RIBA Walter Parker Bursaries

The Bursary makes general grants and scholarships for disadvantaged architecture students, awarded on the basis of financial need, who are enrolled in courses recognised by the RIBA, either in universities in the UK or professional experience training in architectural offices worldwide.

Maintenance grants are made to students enrolled in Part 1 and Part 2 courses in the UK who have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to starting their first degree course in the UK and who experience financial hardship. Since 31 January 2010 RIBA Walter Parker Bursary applications made by Part 1 and Part 2 students are automatically considered for a maintenance grant from the RIBA Education Fund. An applicant can receive only one grant per academic year – either from the RIBA Education Fund or from the RIBA Walter Parker Bursary. If you are a Part 1 or Part 2 student and you have applied to the RIBA Education Fund in 2009/10 session, please do not re-apply to the RIBA Walter Parker Bursary in 2009/10.

Grants of up £500 are made to students undertaking post-Part 1 and post-Part 2 work placements in any country in the world to help them cover re-location and other up-front costs which incur at the onset of a work placement. Students in work placements are ineligible to apply for a grant from the RIBA Education Fund.
