The RIBA administers a number of funding schemes to support current Part 1 and Part 2 students, as well as graduates undertaking practical experience or further research opportunities.
Financial hardship
The RIBA Education Fund| provides bursaries to current Part 1 and Part 2 students who are experiencing financial hardship. The student pages provide guidance notes for applicants and the application form. The RIBA Walter Parker Bursaries| provide funding for students and graduates of architecture undertaking practical experience who are experiencing financial hardship. Students undertaking stage 1 or stage 2 practical experience should refer to the guidance notes and application form|. You can also read case studies| from past applicants.
Postgraduate scholarships
The RIBA Aedas Stephen Williams Scholarship|, generously supported by Aedas Architects, provides a £5,000 scholarship for a final year Part 2 student, or a student wishing to take a Masters in architecture.
The inaugural RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships|, generously funded by the Wren Insurance Association was launched in February 2013 to support outstanding Part 2 students who have the potential to make a significant contribution in the field of architecture.
Travel and research
The RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship| is an annual £6,000 scholarship open to architecture students at RIBA-validated schools, generously supported by Foster + Partners. The scholarship web pages provide full application details, as well as reports from previous winners.
The RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship| supports architecture students or recent graduates by providing an opportunity to undergo a period of imaginative and original research and travel.
The RIBA ICE McAslan Bursary|, generously funded by McAslan + Partners, supports architectural and engineering students and graduates committed to the progress of community and environmental issues in economically deprived areas in the UK or abroad.
Archive of previous funding schemes
The RIBA Part 2 Scholarship| was a one-off funding scheme in 2012 supporting postgraduate students of architecture as was made possible thanks to a legacy left by Mr RV Taylor.
