RIBA response to the Killian Pretty review of planning applications

The RIBA has responded to the Killian-Pretty review of planning applications, calling for simpler rules for small-scale development and encouraging the role of local design review panels. The review has been jointly commissioned by Communities and Local Government and Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Departments.
RIBA briefing to the Second Reading of the Planning Bill

The RIBA renewed its call for local design review panels to be made available to each local planning authority. This follows their endorsement in the Calcutt Review of Housebuilding Delivery. We believe that the Planning Bill should be used as an opportunity to entrench design into the planning process in order to improve the quality of the built environment.
RIBA response to Planning for a Sustainable Future White Paper

The Government's Planning White paper has set forward various measures to streamline and deregulate the planning system. The RIBA welcomes these attempts to make the system quicker and more user-friendly, but not at the expense of good design. RIBA response to Planning Policy Statement: Planning and Climate Change

The RIBA has responded to a consultation exercise by the Department for Communities and Local Government consultation on a new supplement to Planning Policy Statement 1. Planning and Climate Change sets out how planning should contribute to reducing emissions, stabilising climate change and adapting to the consequences of climate change.

RIBA reponse to the Barker Review of Land Use Planning
February 2007
The RIBA has submitted its formal response to Kate Barker's Review of Land Use Planning to the Department for Communities and Local Government. This will in turn inform the Government's preparation of the Planning White Paper which is expected to be published later in the Spring.

Planning Gain Supplement
The RIBA has responded to the Treasury consultation on the proposed Planning Gain Supplement, which seeks to capture the land value uplift arising from the planning process in order to finance local and regional infrastructure.

Delivering the Vision is RIBA London's response to the draft London Plan. The RIBA is pleased that many of its recommendations for improving the built environment made in its initial policy document, Design for a Greater London, are now reflected in the draft London Plan.
