HomeWise - Better homes for Britain

 HomeWise heads to Party Conferences

120919 - RIBA at 2011 Party Conference

After last year's successful events, HomeWise is returning to the Party Conferences with fringe events at all 3 of the main Parties' Conferences.

Housing and planning remain at the top of the political agenda as the need to build more homes is clear and urgent. Earlier this month, the Coalition Government announced a package of housing and planning measures designed to boost growth. These include £10 billion in Government guarantees for new houses and a consultation on a three-year relaxation of planning rules on extending homes and business premises.

The RIBA's fringes will debate how in these difficult economic times we build the new homes we need and what kind of homes should we be building to meet 21st Century lifestyles? And ultimately ask whether it's time for a radical housing re-think?
