We are pleased to offer Student members these valuable sources of information and guidance in conjunction with the RIBA British Architectural Library:

  • Enquiry and research service
    Providing help with anything from quick questions to in-depth research projects.
  • Specialist practice consultants
    Our consultants can help with a range of practice issues, from legal and contractual problems to tax queries. Available to Student members who are working or
    office based.
  • RIBA guides
    These electronic documents are available in the Members only area of our website,
    providing up-to-date guidance on architectural issues.
  • Regional offices
    Our regional offices and over 70 local branches offer national services on a local
    level, giving you information and guidance, and liaising with local organisations.

There are lots of ways to stay up to date with RIBA, including:

  • Discounted subscription to RIBA Journal
    The UK's number one architectural monthly featuring the latest developments in
    design and practice.
  • RIBA Student emails
    A free bulletin sent out during term time, with invaluable information and
    events listings.
  • Discount subscriptions
    Members can subscribe to The Journal of Architecture for £30.00 (normally £189), receiving 6 issues per year. Subscription to Building Research & Information is discounted to £60 (normally £391).


As a Student member, you can borrow from the collections at the RIBA British Architectural Library reference library, at a discounted rate. Recognised as one of most important architectural libraries in the world, it contains an extensive international collection of books, journals, manuscripts, drawings and photographs on history and practice.

Lectures and events

The RIBA Trust offers a leading programme of lectures, seminars and exhibitions and,
as a member, you can enjoy them at a discounted rate. Details of forthcoming events

RIBA bookshops

You can visit our specialist bookshops in London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Belfast.
Each stocks a comprehensive range of books, which can also be purchased via mail
order or online at RIBA bookshops.
