Membership of the RIBA is recognised the world over as a symbol of professional excellence among both clients and architects.

The RIBA, its members, and its practices are the collective voice of architecture and work together to:

  • enhance and promote a profession facing significant challenges
  • champion good design the world over
  • influence UK government policy and legislation that impacts on the profession.

Individual RIBA Members have access to a wide range of benefits and services to support them throughout their career cycle from a student of architecture to practising architect. As their career grows and develops, membership of the RIBA grows with them.

RIBA Chartered Practices can take advantage of a range of business support services to help to improve their effectiveness and business performance.

Refer a friend

At the RIBA we've been supporting our members and the architectural profession for over 175 years. Our strength is our members and as the network grows so does the influence of our community and power of our voice.

Why not tell a friend or a colleague about why you have decided to join the RIBA network and if they become a member you'll receive a £25 RIBA Bookshop voucher to redeem online.

In addition, if you refer the most friends that become RIBA Members before 16 October 2013 we will give you half price membership for 2014. Any friends that you have already referred that become members since 24 May 2012 will also count against your total by 16 October 2013.

To refer a friend

  1. Email membership.development@riba.org or call 020 7307 3686 providing the name, email address and contact number of the friend you are referring, along with the category of RIBA Membership they will be applying for.
  2. We will then contact them to confirm that you were the person that referred them.
  3. The friend you referred will then be asked to write your name and the code WEB001 in the Application Code box on their application form.

Terms and conditions

  1. The offer is open to individuals applying for RIBA Membership, who have made arrangements for payment and RIBA Members, who have renewed and paid, or made payment arrangements for their 2013 subscription.
  2. The referred friend must become a fully paid RIBA Affiliate, Associate or Chartered Member.
  3. The offer starts form the 24-05-2012 and ends on the 16-10-2013.
  4. The voucher is redeemable on orders of £25 or more and is valid to 31-12-2013.
  5. After the 16-10-2013 the RIBA Member that has referred the most friends that have joined and paid for their membership will receive half price membership for 2014.
