Chartered Practice Manual

Chartered Practice Manual

The new RIBA Chartered Practice scheme replaced the RIBA Register of Practices from the 1 July 2007.

In order to help practices prepare for the change to Chartered Practice, the RIBA have produced a manual which provides vital information about why the changes are taking place, what benefits a Chartered Practice can expect and what practices need to do in order to meet the new criteria.

The manual is available to view online and also as a PDF to download and print.

If you have any further queries please call our Chartered Practice Information line on +44 (0) 20 7307 3725 or see the contacts section of the manual.

Anti-Corruption Training Manual

To all RIBA Chartered Practices: from Richard Saxon, Vice-President, Practice.

The avoidance of corruption in our dealings with the world of property and construction is a basic requirement of professional practice. It is however not always easy to identify or avoid corrupt acts by others, especially when working internationally. Transparency International, the global non-governmental organisation which monitors the transparency of government and business practice, has developed an Anti Corruption Training Manual for the construction sector which comes in two versions, International and England and Wales. It identifies what is considered as corruption and how it can be avoided, provides examples, gives simple rules for the individual, provides practical advice when faced with a potentially corrupt situation and, for England and Wales, explains the relevant law. RIBA Chartered Practices may wish to make the anti corruption rules part of their own codes of behaviour. Copies of the manuals can be found below.
