About the Periodicals Collection
The RIBA Library aims to collect the world's major architectural journals, whether these are commercial, official or academic publications. These growing holdings include full sets of 'Architectural Review', 'The Builder', 'RIBA Journal' and 'Country Life'. Around 2,000 titles are held (as part of the Books and Periodicals Collection), over 600 of which are current journals. Anyone can come and access the collection by visiting| the Library, while some are available freely as e-journals.

The periodicals cover all aspects of architecture and a range of subjects in related fields, including:

What is collected?
The Library aims to reflect the full range of journals published within the UK. For journals published outside the UK, the Library subscribes to representative examples in as many languages and from as many countries as is feasible. The collection is an important resource for research and a record of the latest developments in architecture.
Staff at the Library have been indexing| articles in many architectural publications since the early 1900s. Members of the public can search these records in the online catalogue|. The index is also published| as the Architectural Publications Index (API).

Available during Library opening hours|, please bring photographic ID for admission|. Reprographic services| are available for those who cannot visit the Books and Periodicals Collection in person.
Visitor notice: Reduced access to some items
From now until April 2014, due to work to build a new exhibition gallery at 66 Portland Place, some items in the collection are being stored offsite and are available by advanced request only or not accessible. In the online catalogue these items have the location| 77 Portland Place, BASEMENT, BOX, Pamphlet or AV. To find out more about what periodicals are held in the Library, search the online catalogue|. To perform a simple search of the catalogue enter a keyword under 'collections', then select either 'Journals' if searching for the title of a publication or 'Articles' for their contents. Alternatively, please contact| the Library.
Please note that the RIBA's collections| of drawings and archives are available from the RIBA Architecture Study Rooms at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
