Recent loans

In the past six months the RIBA has lent many objects to institutions around the world. They have been lent to a wide variety of exhibitions focusing on a range of subjects from the art historical to the contemporary.

Palladio 500

This exhibition comes in the year of the quincentenary of Andrea Palladio's birth. It is a major exhibtion looking at the life and works of one of the most important architects of the renaissance period. The RIBA are contributing over 60 objects to the exhibtion and are the major lenders.

Dan Dare and the birth of Hi-tech Britain

Science Museum, London, 30 April 2008 - 25 October 2009

This exhibition explores the role played by technology in creating Post-war Britain. The RIBA lent a model of Keeling House by Denys Lasdun.

Chinese Whispers: Chinoiserie in Britain

Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, Brighton, 3 May 2008 - 2 November 2008

The RIBA is lending three drawings to this exhibition on the fashion for Chinoiserie in Britain. The exhibition will take place in the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery as well as the Royal Pavilion.

Napoleon III et Victoria, A Visit to the Paris 1855 World Fair

Musee National du Chateau de Compeigne, Paris                                                3 October 2008-19 January 2009              

This exhibition celebrates the bicentenary of Napoleon's birth. The aim of the exhibition is to emphasise the strength of the relations between France and Great Britain during the Second Empire. The RIBA is lending three objects.

 

 

 
 
 
 

 

  

Borrowing from the RIBA


The RIBA considers sympathetically all requests for loans but as a Designated Collection (MLA), we can only lend to institutions that meet the required conditions of security and environment set out in the Conditions of Loan.

The Conditions of Loan document is available to view as a pdf file and can also be obtained by contacting the RIBA British Architectural Library.

All loans are subjected to a loan fee of £380. This is to cover administration costs, conservation, mounting and framing of objects.
