Burmantofts, and its successor, the Leeds Fireclay Company, manufactured architectural ceramics. Between the 1890s and 1930s Bedford Lemere & Co. regularly photographed their work. The photographs illustrate the impact of the firm's ceramics. They included distinctive brand identities for Lyons Corner House and other clients, as well as practical, adaptable tiles and glazed brickwork for hospitals and hotels. Burmantofts' products remained popular throughout the period.
