This photograph has been reproduced from the earliest known surviving Bedford Lemere & Co. glass plate negative. The architect of the Midland Grand Hotel, Sir George Gilbert Scott, helped to establish the Royal Architectural Museum. He was the museum's treasurer and wrote its guide. Scott's drawings and buildings feature in some of Bedford Lemere & Co.'s first photographs.
