This dramatic night-time rendering of the façade of a chemist's shop was among the first of Fritz Landauer's commissions in Britain. Having left a thriving practice in Munich to come to London in 1933, he was granted émigré status in 1936 and later worked on many shops, cafés and synagogues. In this design he combines modern vertical fins with traditional Boots lettering.
