The concept of 55 Broadway as a 'Cathedral of Modernity' was reinforced by the introduction of sculpture on the façade. This bas-relief sculpture, 'East Wind', by artist Eric Gill, is located on the west wing of 55 Broadway and depicts a flying naked male figure. Based on the ancient 'Temple of the Winds', Holden commissioned six sculptors including his friend Gill and the young Henry Moore, to represent the four winds at key points on the building façade.
