Drawing of St James Park underground station

At first glance, it is easy to forget that beneath the imposing structure of 55 Broadway lies St James Park station on the District line. Due to the diamond shape of the site, access to the station could be gained from either the west side on Petty France, or from the north east on Broadway, as seen in this sketch. Holden stressed that it was the 'imaginary traveller's path' through the building that was the source of his design, creating a cruciform plan for the site.
