Most of the drawings by Palladio still in existence are either studies of ancient remains or original designs by the architect himself. The drawing is on show at the Palladio 500 |exhibition in a room dedicated to Palladio's time in Rome. He made five extensive trips to Rome to study ancient, and, as we can see from this drawing, contemporary sights.
