About the Photographs Collection
The Robert Elwall Photographs Collection is a rich resource for the study of architecture and related subjects such as interior design, topography, landscape, construction and planning. Free and open to the public, it holds:

Over 1.5 million images covering pre-history to the present, with a worldwide coverage.

The archive of the Architectural Press, the publishers of the Architectural Review and Architects' Journal.

The work of acknowledged photographic masters such as Eric de Maré and Tony Ray-Jones. The archives of 20th century photographers including John Maltby, John Donat and Henk Snoek.

Images in a wide range of formats: negatives, prints, colour transparencies, postcards and digital files.

To find out what is held in the collection, search the online catalogue|. To perform a simple search of the catalogue enter any keyword and under 'collections' select 'Photographs'. Some images can be seen online via RIBApix|. Alternatively, please contact the Photographs Collection.
Please note that the RIBA's collections| of drawings and archives are available from the RIBA Architecture Study Rooms at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
