Community design for children's future
‘Wisdom and Dreams’ is the theme proposed to to children, adolescents, young people
and everyone around the world who would like to offer ideas that can provide children and the residents of disaster stricken areas in Japan an environment that will allow them to assume the responsibility of the future with confidence. Organised with the support of UNICEF-Japan in the framework of the Japan recovery programme.

Shelters in the wilderness
This international confrontation of projects invites university students to design a shelter that puts today’s women and men in a situation where they can feel both the richness and the toughness of the wilderness: desert, sea, forrest, polar regions.

Glass architecture in 2050
Open to students and architects worldwide, this confrontation of ideas invites participants to think about ways glass will be used in the architecture of the 2050s, emphasising the environment, energy saving, history and cultural diversity.

Deadline for submissions: 1st August 2011

LEDs, light of the future and of hope
The Japan Institute of Architects (JIA) announces The Architectural Lighting Design
Competition. This confrontation of ideas on the integration of light emitting diodes (LED) in lighting design is open to architects worldwide.

UKTI Green Technology Roadshow

Monday 4 July - London, Tuesday 5 July - Peterborough, Thursday 7 July - Durham

UK Trade & Investment Green Technology Roadshow will bring international buyers and decision makers into the UK to look at the UK’s capabilities across the spectrum of ‘green’ technologies. These buyers have specific interests in green energy production, energy efficiency, green building technology, cleaner production technologies, waste management and water and wastewater treatment. The visiting buyers have been chosen as they are in a position to develop strong business links with UK companies with capabilities in these sectors.
