Lambeth ACCORD Competition
Refurbishment and Renovation of Disability Hub

This new competition seeks suitable architect-led teams for the renovation and refurbishment of a disability hub on Brixton Road in London, managed by the Lambeth ACCORD Charitable Trust. The competition is being organised by the RIBA Competitions Office.

The project vision is to completely refurbish the existing building and expand the amount of office space available, therefore increasing the number of tenant organisations and creating seedbed space for new disability organisations. The aim is to establish a first class disability hub for Lambeth and South London that is considered a centre of excellence in accessibility for disabled people and also incorporates the highest standards of energy conservation and generation (target of BREEAM excellent rating).

Initial application will be by expression of interest. A longlist of approx 8 teams will then be invited to an interim interview prior to a shortlist of 4 teams being selected to produce concept designs.

Anyone interested in being considered should contact the RIBA Competitions Office for a preliminary briefing paper. This can be downloaded from www.architecture.com/competitions|. The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest is 12.00 midday on Wednesday 1 October 2008.
