85 designers from around the world took part in a competition for the design of new ideas to challenge current building techniques for building housing in flood risk areas. The competition was organised on behalf of Norwich Union and was launched in July this year.
The competition judging panel met earlier this month to assess the entries and identify a shortlist of five. The authors of this final shortlist are:
- Eleena Jamil Architect, Kuala Lumpur
- Moxon Architects Ltd, London
- Pohkit Goh, Edinburgh
- Hopper Howe Sadler, Newcastle
- Nissen Adams LLP
The results of the competition will be announced at the Thames Gateway Forum on the 26th and 27th November at London's ExCel centre. Visitors to the Forum will also have an opportunity to view all the entries to the competition by visiting the special stand Norwich Union and the RIBA are hosting.
The findings from the competition will also be featured in a publication which will represent an excellent compendium of design strategies that seek to mitigate flood risk, and will be a useful reference to anyone involved with the issue.
