Six teams are shortlisted to take part in the next stage of the competition to design a landscaping and public realm scheme in the historic city of Salisbury. They are:

BPL Architecture with b:d landscape architects, Rowntree Partnership and Complete Construction Management.
The focus of the competition will be the development of the Market Place, however the successful team will also be expected to produce a city public realm strategy.
Councillor Peter Edge, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism at Salisbury District Council, said; "A reborn Market Place would play a crucial role in helping the city prosper and grow."
He added : "The quality of the submissions received was outstanding and we are confident that we have shortlsited six teams that are all capable of transforming the Market Place into a showpiece of modern public realm within a historic setting".
The competition is being organised by the RIBA on behalf of Salisbury District Council as part of a joint initiative with Wiltshire County Council. The winner will be announced in February 2009.
