Longlist announced – Whitworth Art Gallery Competition
The RIBA is delighted to announce the longlist for the competition to design a new extension and remodelling of the Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester.
The first stage of the competition attracted a phenomenal response with 139 expressions of interest received. Whitworth Art Gallery were delighted with the response and quality of applications.
The ten longlisted practices (in alphabetical order) are:-

All ten practices will now attend an interview with the jury panel from which a shortlist of five practices will be selected to go through to the design phase of the competition.
The shortlisted designs will be then be submitted in September 2009, followed by an exhibition of the schemes with final presentations and the selection of a winner in early November.
