Broadway Malyan have been announced as winners of the Bolton Great Estates Urban Design Competition.
The first phase of the competition attracted Expressions of Interest from architects, landscape architects, town planners and urban designers. Broadway Malyan were selected from a strong shortlist that also included (in alphabetical order):
- Arup with Outerspace
- Ash Sakula Architects
- Broadway Malyan
- Cole Thompson Anders Architects
- Levitt Bernstein Landscape Architecture with Team a go-go
- Taylor Young Limited
Bolton at Home was extremely impressed by all the teams enthusiasm and commitment to the Great Estates Project and their varied preliminary responses to the sites selected. The Jury Panel felt that the sketch ideas presented by Broadway Malyan were distinctive, inventive and refreshing. The team had a holistic approach to the sites and showed a keen appreciation of the wider regeneration issues and opportunities in the context of Bolton. Broadway Malyan, working in conjunction with the local communities, will now go on to develop design proposals to revitalise the overall appearance of the estates selected for the pilot project.
