The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has made an amendment to stage F1 of the RIBA Outline Plan of Work.

The amendment relates to the definition of sub-stage F1 of production information, and is intended to provide greater clarity for architects, clients, other design team members and contractors where an architect is providing partial services. Partial services relate to the preparation of sufficient production information for tender purposes, but not full production information for construction.

The amendment was made to the following text:

F1 Preparation of detailed information for construction.

Application for statutory approvals.

F2 Preparation of further information for construction required under the building contract.

This has now been amended to:

F1 Preparation of production information in sufficient detail to enable a tender or tenders to be obtained.

Application for statutory approvals.

F2 Preparation of further information for construction required under the building contract.

Adrian Dobson , RIBA Director of Practice said:

"This amendment was made with the express purpose of clarification for both the client and the contractor, identifying that production information should be prepared in sufficient detail to enable a tender or tenders to be obtained. The changed terms were inserted to ensure all parties using the document were clear about their obligations and expectations."
