Date: 6 – 9 October 2008
Location: Dubai International Exhibition Centre, Dubai
The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) will be hosting a major exhibition stand promoting British architects next week at Cityscape Dubai, one of the largest property conferences in the world.
Forming part of the Institute's continuing drive to foster partnerships with international clients, a mix of fifteen small, medium and large British practices will be appearing on the shared RIBA stand throughout the week. The RIBA will be promoting all of its chartered practices to potential clients in the Gulf, and providing advice about how best to utlise the RIBA's services. These include a consultation service for clients, with access to a database of practices with the experience they require, in addition to the advice and assistance offered by the RIBA design competitions office.
The RIBA is also endorsing the prestigious Cityscape Architectural Awards, which take place on 6 October 2008. These awards celebrate architectural excellence in emerging markets and John Assael, Vice-President of RIBA Professional Services was a judge on the panel.
Richard Hastilow, Chief Executive of the RIBA said:
"Cityscape Dubai is a good opportunity to promote the talent of British architects to a wide range of new clients and markets overseas. As the number of RIBA practices seeking international commissions increases, the RIBA is keen to support them and to foster longer term partnerships with clients and local architects. There will be new opportunities through the development of RIBA International Chapters, such as the one planned for the Gulf, and we will continue our work with international organisations – which is good for architecture but also supports the RIBA brand and our members overseas."
