The law on workplace pensions changed in 2012, so that UK employers must automatically enrol eligible employees into a qualifying pension scheme, and make contributions. All UK businesses who employ one or more workers must comply.
Each business has a staging date, when the law becomes applicable. From April 2014 to April 2015, employers with 250 to 50 staff are staging. Those with fewer than 50 employees will stage from June 2015. All firms will need to be compliant by April 2017.
