RIBA London and RIBA Competitions announce Call for an Architect to design the RIBA Lounge at MIPIM UK
The RIBA is launching an open call to find a practice that can transform an empty space into a vibrant architect-designed lounge and meeting space for the first MIPIM UK.
For 25 years MIPIM has been the leading real estate event for property professionals, taking place in Cannes each March, MIPIM attracts thousands of attendees and for architects it has become the definitive place to network and win new business around the world. For many years, the RIBA has promoted the benefits of using RIBA Chartered Practices and supported individual practices with exhibition space at MIPIM.
This year will see the first MIPIM event come to the UK taking place at London’s Olympia from 15 – 17 October 2014. The RIBA plans to be highly visible at MIPIM UK – both promoting the profession and our members – but also adding an architectural element to the show.
RIBA London and RIBA Competitions together with Herman Miller and Reed Midem are launching an open call to find a practice that can transform an empty space into an exciting meeting venue with an architectural feel. This is a unique opportunity to develop an architectural installation and we are looking to select a creative and ingenious architect who can help us.
The project is intended to be an opportunity for a practice to showcase their creativity and architectural expertise to a unique audience of developers, local authorities, agents, investors and occupiers.
This is primarily intended to be a publicity and marketing benefit for the selected practice, however a small fee of £5000 (including VAT) is payable to the practice to assist in the design and oversight of the temporary installation.
A budget of £10,000 (including VAT) is available for the installation with furniture supplied from Herman Miller for the lounge space.
