Gemma and Luke are the first couple to have their ceremony and reception at the RIBA, follow their story so far and as it progresses below:
Thursday 18 June
About Us..
We first met at the advertising agency we both worked for in 2003. Four years later - Luke proposed on 5 November 2008 at my favourite restaurant Les Trois Garcons in London. We chose the Royal Institute of British Architects for the wedding of our dreams on 28 November 2009!

The Proposal..
After being together for four years, Luke decided to pop the question on Fireworks Night 2008!
Luke has the ring made especially for me based on a design he'd seen and knew I would love.

Choosing the date and venue...
We knew we didn't want to wait too long to get married but we couldn't decide on a summer or winter wedding, Bath (where I went to Uni) or London! A friend mentioned the RIBA to me which is a beautiful art deco building on Portland Place and it got me thinking. We contacted them and got sent lots of pictures and information regarding weddings at RIBA and I decided to take Luke along to see it.
We both fell in love with the venue and decided on a winter wedding on 28 November 2009 which is also my Mum's birthday. The RIBA have just got their wedding license as well so it meant we could marry and have a fabulous, decadent, deco reception in the same building!

Picture Perfect Wedding Photography...
Tom Oldham is a good friend of ours and I always wanted him to do our wedding photography even though he normally concentrates on band portraits and magazine work. We're looking forward to doing a pre-wedding shoot with him very soon.
Wednesday 15 July
The honeymoon....
Luke and I are off to Brazil for our honeymoon, we're so excited! We're really looking forward to seeing the amazing beaches and sites like the Cristo Redentor and Igacu Falls.
Thursday 16 July
The dress...
I finally ordered my dress from Pronovias but it is top secret so you'll just have to wait and see the wedding photos to see what it looks like!
Sunday 26 July
Hen Do!
I'm just recovering from my Mad Hatters Tea Party Hen do this weekend which was amazing! We hired tipis to sleep in and set up a proper tea party in the grounds of one of my friends houses. It was so much fun!
I arrived at the garden and my lovely girls had decorated everywhere with bunting and fairy lights which looked so cute. There was so much food as well - sandwiches, cakes, scones and the centre piece was a dozen cupcakes spelling out my name!
We had Burlesque lessons from a friend of mine in the afternoon which has us all dancing and giggling with our boas and then we partied until the wee hours.
The next day, the girls had arranged for a masseuse to come and spoil us and help us recover from the late night antics!
Saturday 15 August
Bridesmaids
I found dresses from my 5 (!) bridesmaids this week and one of them leaves today for America so we had a try on session and they all looked so beautiful!
I wanted something to compliment my dress and the art deco feel in RIBA so I've opted for long black glamourous dresses from a well know high street store and they suit each of the girls so I'm very excited!
Tuesday 25 August
Tasting - Yum!
We had our tasting today at RIBA and it was amazing! Our venue and catering manager made us feel so special and chef pulled out all the stops to create the bespoke dishes we had chosen like New York Cheesecake!
They also came up with idea of a winter warming roast dinner for our main course which we tried and it was to die for!
We're so looking to the day now so all of our guests can enjoy the food as much as we did!
