2014 Working Internationally Conference 'Partnering for success'

The RIBA in association with UKTI delivered a high profile event for its members to promote, encourage and educate architectural practices to work internationally.

This year the conference was designed to extend and develop the concept of working internationally by helping practices to discover how working in partnership can help unlock business growth opportunities in international markets.

Welcome slide delegates

The ' Partnering for success' conference therefore focused on key issue involved in finding and working with international and local partners to support international business development. We considered the challenges, pitfalls and benefits of the various options and provided delegates with the opportunity to meet a selection of overseas visitors eager for international collaboration. The RIBA attracted delegations from Malaysia, Libya, China, France, Portugal and Middle East.

The event held for the third year at the RIBA Headquarters at 66 Portland Place also facilitated 1-2-1 consultations with specialist International Trade Advisers from countries as diverse as Finland, USA, Canada, Mexico, China, France, South Africa, Turkey and India.

The conference once again proved to be a great success and was attended by over 200 delegates. Initial feedback suggests that delegates were particularly pleased with the networking opportunities and the quality of the speakers.

A highlight of this year’s event was the keynote speech from Michael Fallon MP, Minister of State for Business and Enterprise. This was followed by the ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the RIBA and Libya’s newly formed Architectural Institutions; The Libyan Board of Architecture and Libyan Institute of Architects. This auspicious occasion was presided over by RIBA President, Stephen Hodder MBE.

Below you can find some details of the agenda and will have a chance to review the presentation slides for the majority of the speakers. For RIBA Chartered Members there will shortly be an opportunity to view video recordings of all the presentations.
