Although architecture can be freely practised by anyone (there is no protection of the profession) the title of 'architect', is protected. Anyone, whether Dutch or foreign, wishing to call themselves an architect, must be enlisted in the legal register, the SBA.
 
EC-qualified architects are eligible to register in the Netherlands, as there is a 'mutual recognition of diplomas' between EU member states.

You may also be interested in joining the professional body, the BNA. BNA membership is open to all appropriately qualified architects. These architects may be either in professional private practice, whether as architects/directors or as salaried architects, and architects in the public sector.
