Where others might have given up on this barn conversion, the architects have thought creatively to overcome local authority conservation rules. Large rooflights are concealed under a plane of expanded steel mesh, maintaining the pure agricultural appearance that the planners had wanted, but allowing light into the barn.
From a distance the roof forms a sculptural monolithic mass that unfolds on approach into a charming complex of agricultural buildings from different eras. Inside spaces are filled with numerous materials found, reclaimed and reused.
