On a busy road, a sequence of single-storeyed, sun-filled rooms off south and west facing corridors encircles a garden oasis. Each room has a strong relationship with the garden, the sky and the trees. The sequence culminates in a tall living space, looking back at the garden and its gatehouse.

The energy performance is above the Passivhaus standard, testament that low-technology and excellence in spatial design, rather than the use of heavy mechanical systems, can achieve a higher standard of sustainable architecture.
