The building sits at the heart of the Basil Spence campus and incorporates flexible teaching spaces, IT facilities, a social space and cafe, and a lecture theatre.

The new building is a half-elliptical plan 'plugged' on to the parallel linear existing building and set in a garden court. A curved rain-screen wraps itself over the roof of the building, accentuating the free-standing nature of the new form.

It is elegant, well proportioned and beautifully considered and crafted – and makes an extremely positive contribution to the surrounding context.
