This striking contemporary modern four-bedroom home in rural Lambley replaces an original house that was 'small, dark and poorly planned'. Hugging the typography of the land, the two storey massing at the front of the house is gentle with the curving walls breaking up the long elevation whilst at the back of the house the lower ground floor accommodation leads out onto the secluded landscaped courtyard. Well executed design touches include glass stair, fenestration, brise soleil and abundant terraces, taking full advantage of views across the valley. Coupled with plenty of natural light throughout, makes this a delightful, airy and interesting home designed to meet the family’s requirements.

Of passive thermal design, with heavy walls and floors and careful consideration of orientation, the house has excellent environmental credentials. A design feature and a visual highlight, a central ‘chimney’ acts as a stack to assist natural ventilation. It is highly insulated, with solar hot water panels, low energy lighting and a rainwater recycling system.
