Continuing professional development

Continuing professional development

From 2007 individual RIBA members are required to attain half of their 35-hour yearly CPD quota from topics listed in the RIBA Core Curriculum. In addition they must undertake 2 hours of study on healthy and safety matters. The Club’s programme provides core curriculum-based seminars to help you achieve this requirement.

CPD is about maintaining professionalism and competence and enhancing career development, business potential and a sense of personal satisfaction. CPD is for consumer protection and is also a way of ensuring that professionals keep up-to-date with their rapidly changing industry. CPD ought to enhance current and future development professionally, personally and business-wise.

The Club exists to assist members in meeting their training requirements by providing a yearly structured programme of seminars tailored to meet the needs of the architect and other construction professionals. In addition to the main programme additional events will be organised as important and relevant issues arise. The current RIBA members' annual season ticket subscription of £385 equates to a fee of just £35 for each half-day seminar giving exceptional value for money in the current training and development marketplace. These seminars would cost £605 on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Club membership

Membership is open to all construction professionals within the partnership regions. Membership runs for a twelve-month period (11 seminars) that may commence at any time in the year. Membership is transferable within the subscriber’s own office and additional guests can attend at a discounted rate. Two sole practitioners or small practices may take a combined season ticket and share the costs and benefits of membership amongst a maximum of three RIBA members.
