John Kellett and Derek Cottrell have been elected as regional councillors to represent RIBA East Midlands on the RIBA national Council. John Kellett, of CPMG Architects, has spent the past year as a regional councillor and in his manifesto for re-election cites key areas for debate, decision and action as fee and salary levels, education/qualification, protection of the architect's role within the construction industry, and the promotion of sustainable architecture to clients.
 
In his manifesto, Derek Cottrell, a senior academic at Lincoln School of Art, Architecture and Design, University of Lincoln, stresses the importance of clear thinking, based on knowledge and experience of designing higher education programmes, plus an understanding of the needs of the profession in an increasingly competitive world.
