The Revised Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2007 came into force on the 6th April 2007. The regulations now incorporate the provision of both CDM and the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996 in one set of regulations, with the purpose of:-

Making health and safety considerations integral to the management and delivery of construction projects' ensuring they are safe to build, use, maintain and eventually demolish.

 

The seminar will review the changes to CDM legislation and the Code of Practice, consider the duties of designers and review specific case studies from which experience of interpretation and application can be gained:

 

  • Review of revisions to CDM regulations that came into force on the 6th April 2007.
  • The Code of Practice
  • The main responsibility of duty holders
  • The roll of the Architect as a designer under the regulations
  • Documentation

Speaker: Paul Scudamore, a practicing CDM co-ordinator with 45 years experience in construction. Originally on the contracting side of the industry he has been a site engineer, site agent, project manager and contracts manager. He joined the B3 Architectural Practice specialising in contract administration, expert witness forensic investigation of building failures and access consultancy. He became Director of B3 and then, for the maximum allowed term of 4 years, Chairman. He has retired as a director but still works for the company as a CDM co-ordinator in their Safety and Access Division.
